5 magical photos that will make you want to add Abruzzo to your next Italian tour

You have been to Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples and the Amalfi Coast, and you think you have seen Italy. Think again and get ready to be amazed by new hot destinations that will steal your heart!

Central Italy's Region of Abruzzo offers pleanty of reasons to add it to your next Italian tour.

If you are a curious traveler, with a passion for slow traveling, authentic food, superb wine and stunning landscapes, well, Abruzzo might be your ideal destination and...it's only two hours from Rome!

I have selected 5 photos of my favorite places in Abruzzo. Places where you can live really authentic and memorable travel experiences. Enjoy!

1. ROCCA CALASCIO

How can't you fall in love with this fairy-tale castle? To learn more about Rocca Calascio and an unforgettable experience we can plan for you, read the related blog post here

2. THE FORTRESS OF CIVITELLA DEL TRONTO

Civitella del Tronto is a charming village, included in the exclusive Club of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages (I Borghi Più Belli d'Italia), at the borders with Le Marche. Here you can visit the largest fortress in Italy and enjoy a stroll in the charming little alleys. Do not miss "La Ruetta", Italy's smallest street.

3. THE TRABOCCHI COAST

If you decide to plan a trip to Abruzzo you can't miss a day or two along the Trabocchi Coast, in the southern part of Abruzzo. The area takes its name from these old huts once used for fishing and now converted into unique seafood restaurants. Wondering how it could be to have a romantic dinner on a Trabocco? I can definitely say truly unforgettable!

4. ROCCASCALEGNA

Another fairy-tale castle, a place full of charm, history and mistery. Come and discover this magnificent castle and the legend of Baron Corvo de Corvis...

5. LAGO DI SCANNO

One of the most Instagrammable places in Abruzzo? The heart-shaped lake of Scanno!

Don't miss taking the scenic drive from Sulmona to Scanno, visit the enchanting villages of Anversa degli Abruzzi, Castrovalva and Villalago and, before reaching Scanno, the village of photographers, stop in the tiny village of Frattura. A short hiking trail will take you to this amazing panoramic point. Isn't it beautiful?
